Gellért Hill Dreams
Performance of Thalia Theatre
Audiovisual dance- and theatre performance
A deserter soldier and a woman hiding in an abandoned villa in Gellért hill bump into each other during the siege of Budapest. Neither of them is able to move on. They spend their time fantasising, playing games, telling stories. Meanwhile we get to know them, their dreams and desires, their reasons for running away and the attraction they have towards one another.
While outside a stunning city is being bombarded to ruins, the two youngsters dream of a new world , in which they can easily reach out as far as the Moon.
This visual dance- and theatre performance, based on the play of Ferenc Karinthy, is the unconventional meeting place of two lead artists of diferrent genres. Judit Schell is one of the most original and diverse personalities of dramatic theatre, Gábor Finta has been the lead dancer of Szeged Contemporary Ballet Co after Pécs, Rotterdam and the Royal Ballet of Vallony.
They were primarily drawn together for a mutual productionby dance, and in this context an old dream of the actress could come true: to play the lead role of Gellért Hill dreams. In the performance drama and dance finds each other in one single piece.
The extention of imagination is becoming unforgettable by the special video mapping, reaching an extraordinary and novel virtual theatrical effect. Gellért Hill dreams are dreams come true in multiple ways. The plot is interrupted by choreographies and dance theater visions made for original and "borrowed" music, bringing us to a different dimension, a different genre, from which we come back again and again to that particular abandoned villa, where the whole universe unites for an hour.
